The Garage

So this all started when we thought we might have mice in the garage. We were pretty positive we had mice when one jumped off some water jugs in front of me one afternoon. So while I was in NC Mom, Dad, and Joe decided to clean out the garage. Well to say it was a mouse problem would be putting it mildly. They began finding evidence of mice everywhere. The most prominent spot a box Pat had brought home that we thought contained only pots and pans. This was not the case. Under the pots and pans was food. You know the stuff mice love, rice, pasta, crackers and well you get the idea. So when we noticed several sleeping bags that were chewed we figured they had found a pretty good space, we were feeding them and they had shelter, we were great hosts!

Well to make a long story short, they took EVERYTHING out of the garage, cleaned and checked it all before putting it back and had a bunch of garbage. Well along the way Joe had mice that jumped out of the box at him, Dad dumped a box out and chased a mouse down to the sewer drain, and Mom had one hop out and decided that there was no way it was coming back into the house so she grabbed a pole and whacked it! That’s right, she killed it. Tyler now thinks his Grandma is “The Man.”

After all this, we placed every kind of trap we could think of in the garage, traditional traps, bags of poison, some new kind of trap, peanut butter in a bucket and glue traps. Well, over the next few weeks every time we went in the garage we would check the traps. We caught more than a few mice! Well, after we hadn’t seen any in a few days we were thinking things were going pretty well. Until Mom came running in one Saturday as we were getting ready to go grocery shopping telling me I had to come look at one of the glue traps. We had thought mice were as bad as it could get, until I saw the snake!
